Accepting New Dental Patients | Lancashire Smiles

Yes – we are accepting new patients.

If you've landed on this page after searching for a dentist that's actually open to new registrations in Lancashire, you can stop searching. Whether you're in Kirkham, Preston, the Fylde Coast, or anywhere in between, Lancashire Smiles is welcoming new patients right now, with no waiting list.

We know how hard it's been to find a dentist locally. We know some of you haven't been seen in two or three years, not through lack of trying, but because the system has let you down. That's exactly why we want to make registering with us as straightforward and reassuring as possible.

Here's everything you need to know.

Who Can Register?

Everyone. We welcome:

  • Adults and children
  • Patients who have never been registered with a private dentist before
  • Patients who haven't seen a dentist in years and feel anxious about coming back
  • Patients who've been dropped from an NHS list and don't know where to turn
  • Patients who are already registered elsewhere but want a higher standard of care

You don't need to be referred. You don't need to be an existing patient. You simply get in touch and we take care of the rest.

How to Register — Step by Step

We've made the process as simple as possible. Here's exactly what happens:

Step 1: Get in Touch

Call us, send us a message, or book online — whichever suits you. You don't need to have a list of dental problems ready. Just let us know you'd like to register as a new patient and we'll take it from there.

We'll take a few basic details and get you booked in for your first appointment. In most cases, we can see new patients within a matter of days.

Step 2: Your New Patient Appointment

Your first visit is not just a quick look and goodbye. It's a comprehensive new patient assessment designed to give us a full picture of your oral health and give you a clear understanding of where things stand.

Here's what your first appointment includes:

A full clinical examination Your dentist will carry out a thorough check of your teeth, gums, soft tissues, and bite. We're not just looking for cavities. We're assessing your overall oral health, checking for early signs of gum disease, oral cancer screening, and any issues that might not yet be causing symptoms but could become problems down the line.

Digital X-rays Where clinically appropriate, we'll take digital X-rays to see what's happening beneath the surface. Digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays and give us immediate, high-resolution images to work from.

A 3D Scan This is where Lancashire Smiles goes further than most practices. We use the latest 3D scanning technology to create a precise digital model of your mouth. This isn't just a gimmick, it allows us to identify issues that a standard examination might miss, plan treatment with far greater accuracy, and show you exactly what we're seeing in a way that's easy to understand. For patients who may need orthodontics, implants, or cosmetic work, the 3D scan is an invaluable starting point.

A conversation about your concerns We always make time to listen. Whether you have specific worries, cosmetic goals, or just want to understand what's going on in your mouth, your first appointment is as much about you talking as it is about us examining.

Step 3: Your Personalised Treatment Plan

After your assessment, we'll put together a clear, written treatment plan tailored specifically to you.

This sets out:

  • What we found during your examination
  • Any treatment we recommend, and why
  • The options available to you, including different approaches where relevant
  • A transparent breakdown of costs before anything is agreed

Nothing is done without your understanding and consent. We explain everything in plain English, take questions seriously, and never pressure anyone into treatment they're not ready for.

You leave your first appointment knowing exactly where your dental health stands and what your options are, which, for many new patients, is a huge relief in itself.

What About the Cost?

Your new patient assessment is a straightforward, fixed-fee appointment with no surprises.

If you're considering joining as a regular patient, our membership plan starts from just £14.70 per month and includes:

  • One dental examination per year
  • One hygienist visits per year
  • Routine X-rays
  • 10% discount on all treatments
  • Worldwide dental emergency cover

For many patients, this works out to be comparable or even cheaper than what you'd pay per visit on the NHS, especially once you factor in the quality of care, the technology we use, and the fact that you actually get an appointment when you need one.

We're happy to talk through the membership options at your first visit, with no obligation.

What If I'm Nervous?

You'd be surprised how many of our new patients tell us they're anxious about coming to the dentist, often because of a bad experience in the past, or simply because it's been so long they don't know what to expect.

We take dental anxiety seriously. Our team is experienced in treating nervous patients, and we pace every appointment to suit you. There's no rushing, no judgment, and no pressure.

The most important thing is that you get through the door. Everything else we can work around.

Lancashire Smiles is conveniently located for patients across a wide area, including Kirkham, Preston, Lytham St Annes, Freckleton, Wesham, Warton, and the wider Fylde Coast.
