Welcome to Lancashire Smiles Dental Practice in Kirkham! We're proud to offer teeth straightening throughout the Fylde, Preston, Blackpool, Lytham St Annes, and surrounding Lancashire areas carried out by our Invisalign expert, Dr. Arnold. Below are answers to the most common questions we receive about Invisalign clear aligners.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a modern teeth straightening treatment that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move your teeth into their ideal position. Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible, comfortable to wear, and can be removed for eating and cleaning. Each set of custom-made aligners is worn for 1 week before moving on to the next set in your treatment plan.

How much does Invisalign cost in Lancashire?

At Lancashire Smiles Dental Practice, Invisalign treatment starts from £1,800 for a single arch (upper or lower teeth only) and £2,500 for both arches. Our transparent pricing includes everything you need with no hidden fees: all custom-made aligners, teeth whitening, retainers (both removable Vivera retainers and fixed retainers), your smile preview scan, and all review appointments throughout your treatment. After care is also provided to ensure your new smile is well maintained.

Do you offer payment plans for Invisalign?

Yes! We understand that investing in your smile is important, which is why we offer flexible finance options to suit your budget. We provide 0% interest finance for 12 months, and finance plans are available for up to 5 years. You can use our online finance calculator to work out monthly payments that suit you, making Invisalign more affordable than you might think.

How does Invisalign work?

Your Invisalign journey at Lancashire Smiles begins with a consultation where we'll assess your teeth and create a personalised treatment plan. We use advanced 3D scanning technology to create a digital preview of your future smile, so you can see your results before you even start! You'll receive a series of custom-made clear aligners that you'll change every week. Each aligner gently shifts your teeth closer to their final position. You'll visit us regularly for progress checks to ensure everything is moving according to plan.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Treatment time varies depending on your individual case, but most patients complete their Invisalign journey in 8 to 10 months. Simple cases using Invisalign can be completed in as little as 6 months, while more complex cases may take up to 18 months. During your free consultation at our Kirkham practice, we'll give you a personalised timeline based on your specific needs.

Invisalign vs Traditional Braces
Is Invisalign better than braces?

Invisalign offers several advantages over traditional braces for many patients. The aligners are virtually invisible, so most people won't even notice you're straightening your teeth. They're removable, meaning you can eat whatever you like and maintain excellent oral hygiene. There are no metal brackets or wires to cause discomfort or emergency appointments. However, the best option depends on your specific case. At Lancashire Smiles, we treat both simple and complex cases with Invisalign, and we'll advise you honestly on the best treatment for your needs.

Can Invisalign fix my teeth

Invisalign can effectively treat a wide range of orthodontic issues including crowded teeth, gaps between teeth, overbites, underbites, crossbites, and crooked teeth. At Lancashire Smiles, we have experience treating everything from simple to complex cases. As an Invisalign provider who achieved the Elite Apex Award in 2021, we have the expertise to handle challenging cases that some practices might not accept. The best way to find out if Invisalign is right for you is to book a consultation at our Kirkham practice.

Practical Invisalign Questions
Does Invisalign hurt?

Most patients experience minimal discomfort with Invisalign. You may feel some pressure or mild soreness for the first few days when you start wearing a new set of aligners, which is actually a good sign that they're working! This feeling is much less intense than the pain often associated with traditional braces being tightened. Unlike metal braces, there are no sharp wires or brackets to irritate your mouth. Any initial discomfort typically subsides within a few days as your mouth adjusts.

How often do I wear Invisalign aligners?

For best results, you should wear your Invisalign aligners for 22 hours per day. You'll only remove them for eating, drinking anything other than water, and cleaning your teeth. The more consistently you wear your aligners, the faster and more predictable your results will be. We'll monitor your progress at regular review appointments (included in your treatment package) to ensure you're on track.

Can I eat and drink with Invisalign?

One of the biggest advantages of Invisalign is that you can eat and drink whatever you like! Simply remove your aligners before meals and snacks, enjoy your food, brush your teeth, and pop your aligners back in. You can drink water while wearing your aligners, but you should remove them for other drinks, especially hot, sugary, or acidic beverages that could damage the aligners or stain them.

How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

Cleaning your Invisalign aligners is simple. Rinse them every time you remove them and brush them gently with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water as it can warp the plastic. You can also use Invisalign cleaning crystals or retainer Brite for a deeper clean. Always brush and floss your teeth before putting your aligners back in to maintain excellent oral hygiene throughout your treatment.

Invisalign for Different Ages
Can adults get Invisalign?

Absolutely! Invisalign is incredibly popular with adults because it's discreet and fits easily into busy lifestyles. There's no age limit for Invisalign treatment. Whether you're in your 20s, 40s, 60s, or beyond, if you have healthy teeth and gums, you're likely a good candidate. Many of our patients from Preston, Fylde, and surrounding Lancashire areas are adults who want to improve their smile without the look of traditional braces.

Can teenagers have Invisalign?

Yes! We treat teenagers with Invisalign at Lancashire Smiles. For teenagers who are self-conscious about their appearance, Invisalign offers a discreet way to straighten teeth. We work with families throughout Kirkham, Preston, Blackpool, and the Fylde area to ensure teenagers achieve beautiful, healthy smiles.

Treatment Process & Results
What's included in Invisalign treatment at Lancashire Smiles?

We believe in transparent pricing with no hidden fees. Your Invisalign package includes everything you need: all custom-made aligners throughout your treatment, professional teeth whitening to make your newly straightened smile even brighter, retainers (both Vivera removable retainers and fixed retainers) to keep your teeth in place after treatment, a 3D smile preview scan so you can see your results before starting, and all review appointments to monitor your progress.

Do I need to wear a retainer after Invisalign?

Yes, retainers are essential to maintain your beautiful new smile. After your teeth have moved into their ideal position, they need time to stabilise. We include both Vivera retainers (Invisalign's own retainers, which are 30% stronger than standard retainers) and fixed retainers in your treatment package. Your retainer plan will be personalised to your needs, but typically you'll wear retainers full-time initially for 3 months, then transition to nighttime wear.

How quickly will I see results from Invisalign?

Many patients start seeing visible improvements within the first 3 months of treatment! The exact treatment timeline depends on your individual case and how complex your tooth movement is. We'll show you a digital preview of your expected results during your initial consultation.

Can I switch from braces to Invisalign?

In many cases, yes! If you're currently wearing traditional braces and would prefer to switch to Invisalign, we can assess whether this is possible during a consultation. Some patients start their treatment with another provider and transfer their care to us. We treat patients from all over Lancashire, including those looking to switch to a more discreet treatment option.
